Some strong remarks Wero made by the Coroner at the inquest on the body of Robert M'Gregor, or M'Crindle. who was shot by an unknown assailant during festivities at his house at East Prahran a fortnight ago. One of the guests testified that the deceased had refused to reveal the name of his assailant, when questioned at the hospital, though he admitted that he knew it. The evidence showed that M'Crindle, who was ft married man, aged 24, lived apart from his wife. The evidence of the young woman who lived with the deceased showed that a girl had informed the witness ' that one of the guests was carrying a revolver. The witness asked M'Crindle in the hospital who was his assailant, and he replied, "The fellow with the revolver." The girl previously mentioned had accompanied the man with the revolver to the party. She had remarked to tho \vitness t "I don't Waht Jack (meaning the man with tlio revolver) j 1 love Paddy,*\ meaning M'Crindle. _ The medical evidence was that there were no indications of alcohol about the deceased. Tho eoronpf returned an open verdict, and said the party was just an orgy of drink, and was the worst case for ten years in his experience. Several of the witnesses had more or lobb suppressed the truth. .
