FIRE ON THE WAIWERA

DUNEDIN, Bth December. A fire was discovered in the bunkers of the Waiwera on Tuesday evening, arid, though it was not completely suppressed until Wednesday evening, it was thought that only trifling damage had been done. Some of the insulation of the refrigerated space was damaged, and it is estimated that the cost of repairs will run into several hundred pounds. The fire is supposed to be due to spontaneous combustion. The chief engineer was badly burned about the hands and arms, and ie receiving medical attention.
