AMBULANCE SATURDAY
To-morrow the city will be besieged by an army of ladies, the occasion being Ambulance Day. Last year the' result was disappointing, owing to various factors over which the organisers had no control. This year the position is more favourable, and, given iine weather tomorrow, the result should be satisfactory to the St. John Ambulance Association. The amount collected is to be allocated equally to the association's general fund, the building fund, the brigade, and the nursing guild. The various objects of these have already been explained in our columns, suffice it to say that the provision for ambulance transport and treatment, the nursing of the sick poor, the dissemination of knowledge of first aid, and home nursing^ are all highly desirable in the interests 'of suffering humanity, and therefore deserving of general public support. Once a year the St. John Ambulance , Association gives the public the ready means, per collection box, of showing its sympathy in a practical way.

A ealo of furniture will be held on the promises No. 4, Upland-road, Kelburne, at 1,30 o'clock on Tuesday, by Messrs, £, Joharton aad Co., ,
