VIVIAN-STREET BAPTIST CHURCH
■ — ■ The Vivian-street Church undertook the building of an infant room for the Kindergarten Sunday School conducted by Miss C. Kirk, and also Bible Class rooms for young men and young women. The estimate for the building was £600, and it was hoped that the congregation would find this amount befors Christmas. The sum of £495 was promised at the first canvass, £100 of which was conditional on £600 being completed. Yesterday the Rev. J. fj. North sat ib the vestry to receive gifts for the work, and £113 was brought in and a large number of gifts in kindj vfThe direct giving of the congregation athoUnted to £608, and the gifts which have been brought in are to be sold in the schoolroom to-day. The building* ytfiir'cosD £100 over the estimate, and it is hoped that to-day's sale will cover that. The sale will be opened in the afternoon at 3 o'clock by Mrs. Kirk, son., and will continue during the evening. The new building will be opened early in February, and it is confidently expected will be entirely free of debt.
