The basometer has continued much below normal, and northerly and westerly winds, strong to gale, have prevailed generally, but have already veered to southerly m the eouthem districts. The weather has been boisterous, with heavy rain in many parts, especially ia districts with a westerly aspect. Very heavy seas ate reported on all the western coaat, tod flooded rivers in Westland and Marlborougb. Snow has fallen hi some of the high coiinfry in the South. Barometer.— Rise fast everywhere soon. Sea. — Very heavy on all the western, coast and in Cook and Foveaux Straits; heavy offshore southward of Castlepoint, and considerable offshore northwards. Tides,— Very high on the west coaet of the North Island; kigh dn the west coast of the South Island; poor northward of East Cape; good elsewhere. Warning signals for westerly gale are exhibited a± East Cape, but for southerly at Cape Maria Van Diemen, TMtirJ, Capes Campbell, Farewell SpU, and Foulwind, and at Stephen Island, Nugget Point, and Centre Island.
