The death is announced of Admiral Sir Richard Vesey Hamilton, G.C.8., who was Senior Lord of the Admiralty in 1889-1891. [Sir Richard Hamilton, G.C.8., was born at Sandwich in 1829, and educated at the Royal Naval School at Camberwell. He joined the Navy in 1843, became a lieutenant in 1851, commander for service m China in 1857, captain in 1862, rear-admiral in 1877, vice-admiral in 1884, and admiral in 1887. In 185051 he served in the Arctic expedition, and also took part in the search of Sir John Franklin. From 1891 to 1894 he was President of the Royal Naval College, Greenwich.
