CIVIL CASES
Before Mr. W. (I. Eiddoll, S.M., to-day, Youngs Chemical Company sued J. H. Eedfcrn, Dannevirke, for £\ 10?,' which was alleged to bo due for 1£ dozen Wioletta Cough Cure at £1 10s per dozen and Ik dozen Wioletta Hair Tome at £1 10b per dozen. Mr. West appeared for tho plaintiff, and Mr. Beevc for tho defendant. Mr. Beero raid that the action had nnon taken in tlio name of Young's Chemical Company, but tho debt had boon assigned to tho Commercial Agency Co. Tor that reason he asked for a nonsuit. Mr. Beere s point Was upheld, and plaintiff was nonsuited. Florence Ooodry preceded against Georgo Waddle, mechanip, for £2 13*. The plaintiff alleged that, tho amount was due for board at the Columbia Private Hotel. Defendant said that he did not recognise Mrß. Goodey in the matter ; ho considered that; the amount was due to her father, T. P. Lyons, who had run tlio hotel immediately before her, against whom ho said he had a contra. His Worship decided that £2 5s was duo to plaintiff and ho gavo judgment for that amount. Mr P. \V. Jackoon appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. E. J. Fitzgibbon for tho defendant. A claim, of £6 5s 9d for balance of work done waß heard by Dr. Al'Arthur, S.M., to-day. Tho plaintiffs were •J. ami X Battersby, paperhangers, and the defendant Joseph DTostine, ranger both of Petono. Tho question was one of extra 6 over and abovo a contract for painting, glazing, and papcrhanging in defendant 6 premises. After hearing part of the evidence, the Magistrate adjourned the case till late in the afternoon. Mr A. M Salek appeared for plaintiffs and Mr. Ft. J, 'Fitzgibbon for defendant. , N
