BOXING TOURNAMENT

Much interest is being taken in the boxing tournament at the Opera House on Monday next. Burns has been showing good work in his training, the impression created on his first appearance being confirmed. Ellis, the clever local featherweight, who has put up two very close _ contests with Hagerty, has been working with the Australian, and although the local exponent shows considerable cleverness it is apparent that he is no match for Burns. Prior to the big contest three _ amateur preliminaries are doWn for decision. C. Leary meets' W. Mack, F. Leary meets W. Martin, and Murphy meets Ryder: Mr. Sampson will referee all the bouts.
