HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
The House met at 2.30 p.m. Mr. Weatherilt, surveyor of ships, petitioned for the sum of £700, as compensation for the hardships he suffered in connection with the wreck of the Elingamite at Three Kings. Notice was given by Mr. Campbell to asked the Postmaster-General if he will decide that all mail-carrying contracts shall be let by public tender. Mr. Wilford gave notice to ask the Minister for Defence if he will give members of rifle clubs an extra grant of 100 rounds of ammunition. • Notice was given by Mr. Sykes to ask the Minister of Agriculture if he will provide for the disestablishment of district high schools and the establishment of agricultural high schools in their place. The Hon. R. H. Rhodes gave notice to introduce the Pharmacy Bill. The Public Petitions Committee referred to the Government for immediate and favourable consideration the petition of Oliphant Hughes, of Wanganui, who complained of wrongful imprisonment.
