No. 3 level is about 250 ft vertical above the low level tunnelin which ithe break mentioned has just been intersected. The drive at No. 3 level only exposed a portion of th© reef as when made before Mr. Stansfield took charge; there were no air drills in use, and in consequence the drive was mostly in the country rock on the hanging wall side of the reef. NEW SYLVIA. The manager telegraphed on Saturday : " Cr<*3s reef; struck good ore." In his report the manager fctates the drive on the crose reef is now in about 145 ft from the south rise, being further advanced than eibher the intermediate or the battery level». Driving on- the cross reef is being done by contract. The reef for -the last 20ft is about 6ft wide, and of the value of £8 2s per ton. Tlie reef has turned sharply to the left or hanging wall side, and is running in virgin country. There are between 200 ft and 300 ft of backs available. The run of good ore appears to be dipping south, and if that is the case it will be necessary to extend the intermediate and the battery levels to reach the point where good values have been got at No. 3. Gold is frequently seen in the ore broken down. NEW BIG RIVER.
