As Napier is holding a week's carnival next month, commencing on the 14th, an effort is being made to get the ladies' hockey tournament (over which a deadlock occurred in Auckland) played here. The carnival programme includes tho annual musical competitions, representative football and hockey matches, and an international tug-o'-war. Already many enquiries have been received lor accommodation, and special provision 1b being made by hotelkeepers. Entrants for tho musical competitions total about 1300.
