NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION COUNCIL. The council of the New Zealand Football Association mot in the V.M.C.A. rooms last evening, Mr. J. F. Atkins presiding. Letters were received from the Canterbury and Wanganui Football Associations, stating that they had arranged to play their Brown Shield match on 24th August. The Canterbury # Association had also managed U> obtain an enclosed ground (the chow ground) for ihat date. In regard to + Jio Shield date chosen by Canterbury and Wanganui (the 24th August), the Wellington Association wrote, asking that tho match bo set forward to the 10th August. If tho match was played on the former date it would mean that Wellington's challenge match for tne Shield would not bo played until come tune in September. The Otago game would b,o even later than that. As Wanganui had probably made all arrangements for the match, it was decided not to alter the date. The secretary was instructed io write to the Canterbury and Wanganui Associations approving the date, » but also stating that it was regretted that they took 60 long to arrange the match. On the 17th August a representative match between Wellington and Hawkee Bay is to be played at Napier. Mr. R. M. Chadwick has been selected to act as reieree. According to information received from the Poverty Bay Association, some of the Canterbury players in the recent Brown Shield match played in illegal boots. The referee is to be asked for a report on the matter. Lists forwarded by the Poverty Ba) and Hawkes Bay Association as to their membership show an increase of iOO per cent, on last year's figures. The executive of the New Zealand League met this afternoon, and arranged the following 'dates for the New South Wales tour : — 24th August, Wellington ; 29th August; Taranaki ; 31st August, Auckland j 4th September, Rotorua ; 7th September, v. New Zealand, at Auckland ; 11th September, Hawkes Bay ; 14th September, Canterbury ; 19th September, Wanganui. Tho final match will be played at Auckland on a (jtate to be arranged.
