EDUCATION BOARD MONTHLY MEETING.

The usual meeting of the W«l« liugtoii Education Board was held yeaterday, Sir. R. Lee presiding. Others present were as follow: Messrs. J. G. W. Aitken, H. Freeman, J. Kebbell, A. W. Hogg, W. C. Buchanan, Ml 3 ., and. W. H. Field. The financial statement disclosed a> debit, of £91 12s lOd after payment* required (£10,241 2s sd) were made. Tho debit a month ago was given as £270 lAc Bd. The chairman announced that since the financial sheet was made up tv sum of ovei £200 had been received. This left the board with a credit balance. Kilbirnie, Waterfalls, Kaiwaiwai, Whiteman's Valley, Te Aro Infa.n<*' School, Johnsonyille, Maknri, Muritad, Normal, To Nui, Fernridge (improved lighting, removal of galleries). Kaitawa, Taueru, Pahiatua, and Mauriceville West. The clerk of works "was directed to estimate and report, with sketch plan where neceesary, on applications from th» following places: Hutt, Brooklyn, South Wellington (heating service), Martinborough (septic tank), tVton« (greenhouse), Hukanui, Mangaoite, MangAhao, Mangamire. Greytown, 1 Ms.tava.wa, Ma,k<rua, and Newtown. Application for fencing grant (£l4) for Ngaio was declined. Application is to be made for a grant for rficonstruction of kitchen (at Kaiwarra) and scullery, and for erection of bathroom. Alternative tenders ar« to be invited for (a) house removal, (b) section, (c) house and section—silo for old school (all at Upper Hutt). Library aubsidiwwpro granted '&*> follow: Khandallah £1 15s and Opaki 16s Bd. -
