[PRESS ASSOCIATION.] PROTEST AGAINST CLOSING A RAILWAY CROSSING
TBIABU. 30th July. Representatives of tho builders ana road contractors inDfc the Borough .Council to-night to protest against ihe railway authorities closing two railway crossings giving access to the beach sbinglo at the most convenient points, and where the most suitable shingle tor roads and building purposes is obtainable. Mr. Craigie, M.P., ia to be asked to see the Minister and get tho embargo removed, and if unsuccessful a deputation of those interested to go to Wellington for the purpose. Those concerned say if the rule is adhered to the cost to the town will be some thoaj sands a year for extra haulage.
