The charge preferred against Tier was that on the 11th of July he broke and entered tlie premises of Charles Hill and Sons, Lambton-quay, and stole therefrom three pairs of silk socks, valued at 25s 6d; eight overcoats, valued at £22 10s; oil© hat, valued at 13s 6d; two cups, valned. at 15s, and 4s o£d in money. A FINGER PRINTS. The modern system of tracing crinv inals by means of finger-prints has done much to bring evildoers to justice, but it doB& nob deter all these gentry from burglariiing. The best means of preventing lo&h of money, valuable papers or other articles of value, is to place them in one of Chubb's burglar-resisting safes, which aiv never known to fail. Chubbs laugh at burglars, and til© latter know it is useless to attempt to open a. Chubb. Mr. Junit« Dykea, of Gualter, Dykes and Co., Featherston-street, ie attorney in New Zealand for Chubb and Son, aud holds stocks of their safes, locks and strong-voom doors. — Advt.
