PECULIAR QUERY TO A TEACHER
I TO THI KDITOE. Sir, — I regret that on Wednesday last, when examining Mr Parkinson before the Education Commission, I . failed to make clear the, significance of a question put to him' by me. "You appreciate the difference between a revenue- producing and a. non-revenue-producing department ?" was my query, and when Mr Parkinson replied, lam not called on to do bo," I remarked, " Well, you will be," 'meaning that, in advocating increased expenditure on. education, 'he would be made to feel, as I have often felt, what an uphill fight it is to secure increased benefits for the members of a non-revenue-pro-ducing department as compared with v revenue-producing department. My attitude towards jtoy fellow-teachers and their legitimate aspirations is too well known to require further explanation. — I am, etc., WM. DAVIDSON. 12th July.
