A writer In tho Herald quotes from_ a number of th* Maori Messenger, printed in. Auckland in 3855, for tho New Zealand Government, and in which under "Aucktaafl Markets" the following quotations are given t —Flour, fine £35 per ton, seconds .£32 per ton ; potatoes, new £10 per ton ; wheat, 12s per bushel ; oats, 8s per bushel ; maize, 8s per bushel ) butter, Xs 6d per lb; fowls, 2s 6d each; ducks, 3» 6d each ; geese, 7& earn ; fresh beef, 8d per lb ; fresh mutton, 8d per lb ; tea, £7 per boxj coffee, 10d pei lb; sugar, 4d per lb ; candles, 2s 6d pet lb ; boots (Napoleon) £1 15s per pair and (Wellington) £1 12s p£r pair; piough horses, £55 each ; cart horses, £b0 each ; saddle horses £30 each.
