The proposals include provision of a maternity allowance. A Bill will be introduced providing a grant of £5 for every child hereafter born and registered in Australia. Mr. Fisher claims that this wfll protect many toiling mothers and assist in preserving child life. It was decided that the Navigation Bill should be passed in the coming session without fail. The question whether the proposed amendments to the Constitution shall again be submitted to the people at the next election was not finally decided. STATEMENT BY MR. FISHER. (Received June 13, 10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Da,y. At the Federal Labour caucus, Mr. Fisher stated that though pdwers would be asked for for alteration of the Constitution at the next election, some of the questions submitted to the electors may be different from those previously submitted.
