BROWN v. RAINBOW TROUT
[SI TBLUGBAPH — SPECIAL TO THE POST.J AUCKLAND, This Day. Brown trout have proved a failure in the Auckland district, according to the chairman of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society. At) a meeting cf the society he said that it had been found that brown trout had been, chased out of the- rivers by rainbow trout. In cases where the former trout were placed in rivers from which they could have access to the sea they provided good sport, but otherwise they were iiselee6. At present the society had 30,000 brown trout yearlings to distribute, and he thought they they would bb well advised not to get any more. • Members agreed that rainbow trout had proved successful, and it was decided to pay special attention " 4o - them daring the -ensuing season.- "** • fpBESS ASSOCIATION.]
