HOTEL LICENSE HELD OVER AWAHURI PROPERTY. [BT TELEGRAPH— SPECIAL TO THE POST.} PALMERSTON N., This Day. The Foilding Licensing Committee recently "held over' the question of transferring the license of the Awahu.ri Hotel from the late licensee to Michael O'Reilly, owner of * the property for seventeen ) ears, till it had inspected the place. Yesterday it visited the place, and iis a result, 'and the reports of the police as to the condition of the premises, decided to> hoM over the license till September, fading the cairying out of various improvements, O'Reilly (who is well known in Palmercton us a. borough councillor) either living permanently on the premises, where he has now Flynn aa. manager, or getting another licensee. It was stated in evidence by the owner and manager that the late licensee had furniture which hae been valued at £100 insured for £400. -while the manager has brought in men furniture and insured it for £270. Mr. Thomson, S.M., aaid that the ineurances of the furniture totalled £670, while it was apparently v.-orth £400, and the ineurance must f be reduced to its value.
