— ♦ CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS, Tho committee appointed to control llu> cross-country events met labt night, Mr. W. 11. Pollock presiding;. Correspondence was received relative to tho Wellington Provincial Cross-country champion-* ship from the Maimwafcu and Wairarapa Athletic Clubs, and from Foilding, Mas--torton, Wellington, and Brooklyn Hari rier Clubs, all of which intend giving this i-aco their support. It was decided to hold tho first .Wellington Provincial Crosscounty championship on 17th July, and allot same to the. MunawaUi A.A.C. -at Palmorston, the conditions gorerning the contest to bo as follow :— Distance of live miies cross country; teams of sLy competitors, first four to count Cor places; com* pefcitors for the individual championship to pay on entrance fee of 2s 6d; teams to pay a shilling per man, the winning team to hold the Whyfco and M'Kay- Shield; the event to be held in Wellington once in erery three years, otherwise to be competed for in tho country districts. Messrs'. C. Lamborg, L. Cooke, und W. H. Potlock were suggested as solctot's to pick a. toeun to represent the Wellington Centre and the New Zealand Cross-country championship, which is sot down for de» cision on tho 12th August at Wellington.
