A short sitting of tho Magistrate's Court this morning was presided over by Mr. W. G. Kiddell, S.iYL One first- j offender for' drunkenness wad convicted and discharged ; one was fined 5s or in default j 24- hours in gaol; two who were on bail and did not appear were fined 10b or in default 48 hours' imprisonment; and i William Williams was, altso fined in a like I amount with a similar default. Edward Grovo was convicted and discharged on a charge of drunkenness, and on a charge of Bteaiiag a pair of boots, valued at 10b, the property of William Donovan, Was j convicted and ordered to come up for sen- j tenco when called on. Accused was ordered to refund 2s 6d, the amount he sold the bouts for to a, second-hand dealer, and pay V 3s witnessed expenses. He was . allowed, a week in which to pay. Freder- ! ick Croft, for being drunk was convicted ] and discharged, and on a charge of stealing a bicycle valued at JGS, tho property ■ of somo person unknown, was remanded < till tho 14th instant. Bail was allowed in ! jthe sum of £50 and onu security of £30. | Mr. A. M. Salek appeared for Grove and Croft. I At tho Mount Cook Police Court this I morningt before Mr. W. Light, J.P., James Armstrong was fined 53 with tho alternative of 24- hours' deteniiou for drunkenness, and on similar chargea i'rank Kobinson, and" one first-offender weru convicted and dißcharged.
