VICE-REGAL. The following received invitation* to a dinner party at Government House last evening:— Hon. T. Mackenzie (Prime Minister) and Miss Mackenzie, General and Mrs. Godley, Mr. and Mrs. McLean, Mr. T. Wilford, M.P., and" Mrs. Wilford, Mr. and Mrs. M. Rom, the Bishop of Wellington (Right Rev. T. H. Sprott), Hon. A. Myers and Mrs. Mjera. Hie Excellency the Governor will preside at the annual meeting of the Prisoners' Aid Society this evening. Right Hon. J. Bryee will be entertained at dinner at the Grand Hotel this evening. To-morrow ho will attend the Wellington Club ball with the vice-regal party*. On Thursday evening he leaves for a tour in the South Island, visiting 1 Otira and the Cold Lakeu. Mr. D. M. Findlay has foi some day* bqea confined to his bed on account of illness. The Hon. G Ell and Mr. Darey, M.P., were passengers from Lyttelton by the Mararoa to-day. Mr. H. Baillie, chief librarian at the Public Library, left last night for>Timaro, to assist the management of the Timaru Public, Library. Mr. N. A. Brodrick, accountant in the Bank of New South Wales. Marton, has beea transferred to Wellington. He will be succeeded by Mr. E. H. W. Kenny, of the Wellington office. Mr. C. Ilettlcm, late assistant master at Mastertou, has been appointed headmaster of the Island Bay School, in succession to Mr. F. G. A. Sfcucke-y. who has been appointed an inspector. Mr. W- Hannaun, lor many years carrier to the Publio Works shops, was last iiight presented with a tangible mark of the esteem in which he is held by those with whom he has come in contact. Mr. W. A. Mr. A. E. Carvel, of the local office of tli a Land and Deeds Department, wag on Saturday tho recipient of a presentation iroin the staff on the occasion of his apj>roachixig marriage. Mr. G. G. Bridges, Dietript Land Registrar, made the presentation. The funeral of tho lato Mr. Arthur Jyjsxkß, which took place at Karori today, waa largely attended. The Harbour Board "vas represented by Messrs. R. Fletcher (chairman), Nicholla (secretary), and i Gamble (accountant), and a largo number of deceased's fellow-employees. Tiiero was a Btrong muster of members o£ Lodge Hinemoa. of which deceased was secretary and a past-master. All the Alasonio city lodges were well represented, ;is also was the Loyal Antipodean Lodge, 1.0.Q-i?., M.U., of which deceased was a ro3pected niembei. The Bervice at the graToside was conducted by the Re*. Ward, of the Riddiford-street " Weeleyan ilethodist Ohareh. Bros. Morris Fox, H. H. Seatou, and if. J. Williams assisted in the Maßouio ceremony at the graveside, and m6mberi» of th« Foresters' Order also took part in tho last rites.
