SUPPORT FOR MINISTER OF DEFENCE
LOCAL BODIES' EESOLUTION& [BX TELEOEAPH — SPECIAL TO THE POST.] PALMEBSTON N., This Day. The action of the PalmeTston Chamber of Commerce in sending out its resolution of cordial support to the Minister for Defence (Mr. A. M. Myers) en his stand re defence matters has met with a remarkable responfae. County councils, harbour boards, borough councils, and chambers of commerce from all over the Dominion to the number of 167 have written cordially approving the Palmerston resolution and giving hearty support. Not one of the 187 replies is adverse, bu£ nineteen of them took no action, several thinking the matter was outside their jurisdiction, others, no doubt, hostile. Of sixteen boroughs which did not send approval thirteen were in and around Christchurch. •
