NATIONAL GALLERY
ANOTHER EXHIBITION
SUBSCRIPTIONS STILL COMING IN. This evening an "at home" will be held at the temporary gallery, which has been made available for the recent picture exhibition by the Harbour Board. The Arrangement Committee has issued some invitations, but it wishes all who have subscribed to consider themselveß invited. Some of the subscribers, however, were anonymous, and cou^id not be reached. A general invitation, therefore, is extended to all subscribers. Evening dress will be worn. This latest exhibition includes pictures purchased from the Baillio collection and pictures already jn the Wellington Gallery. The works make a really fine show when all together. They are all hung "on the line," and are thus better seen than if 'crowded up together. The water-colours occupy the ante-gal-lery. The exliibition will be quite free, but as the Picture Purchase Fund is not yet closed, subscriptions still coming in, collections will be taken at the doors, thus enabling those who cannot give largely to the fund to give something. Catalogues have been j>repared with illustrations of some of the pictures purchased: These will be obtainable at the gallery. The exhibition will open to-morrow and Sunday afternoons. It will close on Tuesday. Those responsible lor the exhibitions of the Baillie and the local and purchased pictures are unstinting in their praiße of the Harbour Board for all that that body has done m.tho promotion of the National Gallery movement. The following is the list of donations for the Picture Purcuaso Fund to-date :
The picture selected for Masterton's gift is the "Race Meeting," by W. Dacre Adams, a fine btndy of horses and riders. This will be seen in the exhibition. There are two pictures, however, that will not be included. They are "The Italian Goatherd," a gift by Miss K. Mair. It is to come from Auckland, and was painted by Miss Mail's mother when she was known as Miss Kate Sperry; also the picture presented by Mr. John Duthie to 'the gallery, .the commission for which has been tent Home.
