Chapman followed, and the score went up to 71, when the latter was caught by Faulkner off Carter. 71—2—18. VVith 11 runs added Cadman put his leg in front to Carter. 82 — 3_ — 52. Morton and Slater weie now associated, but, with a single added, tho latter was bowled by Hartigan. 83—4 -—0. Wiekstoad. who followed, did little better. On resumption, Morton was caught at the wickets oil Pegler. 124 — 7—19.' Humphries, after' scoring a single, was dismissed leg-before to Faulkner. 129 — 8—1;8 — 1 ; and at 157 Warren was run _ out. 137 — 9—6.9 — 6. Blony became associated with Forester, who made 11 before being caught by Carter off Pegler. 143 — 10—11. VISITORS AT THE WICKETS. Strieker and Tancred began for the South Africans, who made a bad start. Strieker was bowled by Morton after scoring . 2—2 — I—2.1 — 2. Aubrey Faulkiner, who followed, made an inauspicious beginning, Morton getting him l.b.w. for a duck. 2—2—o.
