The Manchester is a hopper dredge of 833 tons, with twin Bcrew. She was Bold to tho Sydney Harbour Trust recently by tho Lyttelton Harbour Board. A representative of the Trust supervised tho fitting of the vessel before her departure, and Mr. J. Sidall, chief en» gineor of the vessel, is a member of the Sydney Trust's Btaff. Many of the officers and crew belong to Chrifitchurch and Lyttelton. J. Downie, the master, wo« in the shore employ of the Union Steam Ship Company at Lyttelton, and the chief ' mate, L. Schultz, lately was on the small packet steamer John. Other members of staff and crew are s — Second mate, A. Baxter ; second engineer, A. J. Avers; third, J. W. Crombie; A.8.b., T. Dally, D.
