The Incorporated Society of Meat Importers' Smithfield market quotations fcr tho undermentioned clashes of frozen meat uro based on actual sales of not less than 100 carcates of mutton or lamb, or twenty-five quarters of heof of fair average quality. The quotations are not for selected lines, but for parcels fairly representative of tho bulk of the shipments now on the market) The prices which follow are on the average a farthing per lb more than the values ex ship, this difference representing an average cost in expenses, handling, conveyance, and selling the meat. Mutton.— North Island best, 3|d per lb ; Australian, heavy 3 5-16dj South American, heavy, 3>id. Lamb. — Canterbury, light", s}d ; medium, 5 11-16 d; heavy. sgd ; North Island, best s§d, ordinary ft 7-16 d; Australian, best s^d, fair quality sd, in» ferior 4|d.
