OLYMPIC GAMES.
TROUBLE OVER EXPENSES. At a meeting of the Olympic Council last evening a question relating to the expenses of the New Zealand contestants was discussed. The? council resolved that, having exceeded the amount of funds sent in with which to send Hill and Wilding to Stockholm, it could not undertake, for want of funds, to nominate Champion until the amount of hifi expenses and pafcsoge money was forthcoming. This resolution is to be forwarded to Mr. Harris, of _ Christchurch, the secretary of the Swimming Association. It was. stated that when Hill (the Auckland distance runner) was sent away Auckland people pledged themselves to provide £75, but that up to the present only . £25 had been sent. The council resolved to notify these Auckland people that unless* the'remaining £50 was forthcoming forthwith Hill's nomination would be cancelled, and he would have to return, after reaching London, without going on to Stockholm. Members of the council took the view that they were , now personally liable for the £50 in question.
