VACANCY ON CITY COUNCIL.

As a result of the election of Mr. D. M'Laren for the Mayoralty, there ie a vacancy in the ranks of the city councillors. When the result of yesterday's poll is officially declared steps will be taken to make the neceesary arrangements for having the vacancy filled. Mr. J. Smith, who unsuccessfully contested the Mayoralty, still retains his place as a councillor. Tho Labour party will nominate- a candidate for the vacancy on the council.
