ST. MARY'S CHURCH

The repovt to bo presented at tho annual meeting of tho parishioners of St. Mary's Church, Karori, states that tho finances aro in a satisfactory condition. Generally, tho finances aro iv as stable a condition as l ut last year, showing in some of tho moro important items a alight upward tendency. In offertories thero has been an increase of £5 2s 3d. In subscriptions and donations, an increaso of £41 13s 6d; receipts trom tho parochial hall. £15; tho pipe organ fund has increased from £41 10s Sd to £191 12b 8d; while no less a sum than £248 183 5d has been received on account of the new church fund. But although the offertories, in tho aggregate, show an increaso on those of last year, the general offertories show a considerable decrease, in consequence of which the general account suffers. Very encouraging reports havo been received from tho eominittco of St., Mathias, Makara, whoso new church fund has benefited during tho year to the oxtent of £26 — the proceeds of a sale of^ wofk — and now has reached £185 15s 2d.' Of events of special interest that have occurred during the year the most import-, ant is tho completion of the first half of the now church. Very special thanks aro due to those church members who so gen--erously came to the assistance, of tho yes"try in tho matter of the furnishing o£ the new church— furniture and fittings to the value of about £84 having been provided.
