DEADLY BLOW TO CHRISTIANITY MR. M'KENNA EXPLAINS BILL'S PROVISIONS ENDOWMENT INCOME FIXED.

Reginald M'Konna) said that the Welsh Difiestaiblifikttent Bill was similar to that of 1909. Tho present income from endowment* amounted t/o £260,000} in futuv*, 'if would have a minimum of £87,000 A year. Existing incumbents would 'continue to receive stipends. The Ecclesiastical Commissioners and the governors of Queen Anne's bounty would also be perniitited to contribute from English sources a sufficient sum to moke th© income of the Welsh Church £180,000 a 1 year', including life interests valued at £82,000, and to retain cathedrals, churches, and parsonage. Welsh Commissioners would be appointed ito distribute Church t property, of which £26,700 will bo given to the University of Wales and £176,000 goes to county councils and districts where tithes are levied. The ( Right Hon. Alfred Lyitelton (Unionist member for St. George s, Kan-over-fiquaru Division), eaid that the English Church had still the largest denomination in Wales. The Government wasi dealing a deadly blow to Christianity by th^ Bui, which violated the principle of religious toleration. Sir David Brynmor Jones (Labour member for Swansea) approved the Bill.
