CAPTAIN AMUNDSEN'S LECTURE, *> ' - The appearance of Captain Amundsen, the hero of the South Pole, at the Town Hall on Wednesday 'evening next, to- recount the story of " How 1 Reached the Pole," is one of those rare opportunities that should be taken full advantage of. Captain Amundsen Ls a chivalrous as well as a modest and retiring gentleman, a3 may be judged from what he said at his first reception by the British Ad miral in Hobarfc. "They had praised him," Captain Amundßen said, "as being the first to reach the Pole, but they did not know yet. He thought they had better wait a. little to hear what Captain Scott had to say. Scott might have another story to tell, and he might have been there before him without his seeing his marks. If Scott had not been there he was sure he would return with good results, and he felt satisfied that he would ultimately get there." -The box plan for the one lecture to be given in Wellington is now open at Holiday's, ' and the day sales are at Christesen's.
