ROWING.

(By "Scull.") WELLINGTON CLUB. The final of the Ladder Sculls In connection with the -' Wellington Rowing Club was decided thie week, the competitors* being Jenkins and Hoare. Alter an even start both men raced together for half-a-mile, when Jenkins went ahead, finally winning by three lengths. Jenkins undoubtedly earned his win, as he sculled with more confidence than his opponent* who steered a bad course, and rowed too short, not giving his boat time to run. • ■ - t The competitors for the club's double sculls (final) were' Syinonds (str) arid Woodnutt (bow), and M'Gill (str) and Wodman (bow). From the start M'Gill took the lead and maintained it; for a quarter of a mile. Symonds, who was sculling with plenty of dash, then began to creep up, and at the half-way mark, had a lead of a length, and ultimately won by three lengths. The losers rowed well for half-way, but through lack of condition they had to suffer defeat. Several heats of the junior sculls were also decided. O'Donovan defeated Rafter by a length nad a half, after a very good race. Rafter lead practically the whole distance, but by good judgment * O'Donovan defeated him in the last stage. The contest between Jenkins and Hoare proved to be the best race witnessed during vne season. After an even start both men sculled together nearly the whole distance, but just before the finishing point" was. reached Jenkins put a little more on to his work, and won by> a length. O'Donovan defeated ' Woodnutt rather easily by four lengths. A good deal of credjt 'is- due to Woodnutt for his plucky sculling, this being his first season. Very good entries have already been received for the Handicap' sculls, which is the final event of the season,
