CIVIL CASES.

Before Dr. ftp Arthur, S.M., in tfo. Madetrate'e Court yesterday, Arthur Walling, , tobacconist, Manners-street, obtained judgment tor £12 5s against W. A. Palmer, as damages caused through a. motor car crashing through his window. Defendant failed to appear. Mr. O. Samuel appeared for plaintiff. There was a partial hearing of a case in which Mrs. Maggie Newman claimed £12 from George Masters, a sum which she alleged had been lent defendant. The case will come' on again on Mpnday. Before. Mr. W. G. Eiddell, S.M., 'the Northern Assurance Co., Ltd., proceeded against George Laban 'to .recover £7 4s lid. the amount of an insurance premium alleged 1 to be due. Defendant counterelaimed for £5 as commission for services rendered. Judgment was given for plaintiff on the claim and on the counterclaim. With regard to the counterclaim, his Worship , remarked that there was no evidence to show that defendant had been engaged to Serform the services which he said he ad rendered. Mr. A. Fair appeared for plaintiff.
