INTERRUPTIONS' AT A MEETING.

AUCKLAND, 18th April. The Mayor (Mr. 1 ,. C. J. Parr) this afternoon addressed a meeting of members of tho Tramways Union, which ib one of the unions -affiliated with the Federation, of Labour. -Mf. Farrelly, of .the Tramways Union, was voted to the chair. He said that, although they might differ from Mr. Parr, they should give him a fair hearing. The Mayor said h» was not afraid to face the people, because he had "nothing in bis record to bo ashamed of. Here Mr. Parr wae interrupted by Mr. Paul -Richardson, president of tho union, who insisted on questioning the Mayor beforo he went further. Air. Parr : Mr. Richardton, you are president of v union, and know that the proceduie is to allow v speaker to finish his remarks betore questions arc put. Sir. Richardaon : I want to •peelion. you rf now-- There will be no time for questioas/ A bystander : Oh, shut up. Give the Mayyr a- chance'..

The Mayor then proceeded to explain the position of the council in regard to the labour question. He_ said he was being blamed for the action of a conference of forty-three delegates of local bodies. He was do more to blame than hie friend Mr. Richardson would bo if his union almost unanimously resolved on a certain course of action. Amidst considerable interruption the Mayor proceeded and finished his remarks. Tho meeting closed with cheers for Mr. Parr and Mr. Skeltou.
