TO ADVANCE EASTBOURNE. AN ASSOCIATION PROJECTED.
An association is in proceee of formation among property-owners on the eastern side of the harbour, comprising residents of Lowry Bay, York Bay, Day's Bay, Hona Bay, and Muritai. The objects of the association wore eel out in a circular issued to owneis. It reads as follows :—: — "Tho objeH of the. association will bo to promote the general interests of such property-owners. In particular, at the outset, attention is to bo given to the improvement of load communication by way of Petone and the Hutt, and of ferry communication with the oily. Other matters of common interest to the members of the association will be taken up as occasion warrants. By Iho co-operatioji' of property-owners in a strong association, it is confidently anticipated that benefits will bo secured thaA would be impossible with individual effort. You are invited to join tho association, the subscription to which ' has been fixed at 2s 6d per annum. An interim- committee has been set up, composed of : Messrs. C. P. Skeitett,' K.CT (chairman), W. H. D. Bell, M.i\, Robert Turnbull, and J. S. Swan (Lowry Bay) j W. H. Turnbull, G. J. Clapham, and Frank Shaw (York Bay) ; A. W. Blair and S. F. Wright (Day's Bay) ; D. Robertson, W. J. Organ. J. P. Kelly, and P..DE. Hodgkins (Roiia. Bay) ; H. W. Shortt. J. D. Avevy, and H. A. Wright (Muritai). M Mr. P. DE. Hodgkins is secretary of the new asso- i cifttion. The association aims at inducing a greater population for that part of Wellington, better access to Eastbourne and district, and tlje establishment of pleasure boats, t bathing sheds, a\id such like attractions.
