EMPLOYERS ORGANISING.
PALMERSTON N./let April. , A special meeting- of the Manawatu; Employers' Association was held tonight to consider. a motion by Mr. C. E. Beattie,' which .was amended -.and carried after a couple of hours' discussion as follows t — "That this association ''recommends the following course of action to the consideration o* the Employers' Federation :—: — 'That the federation draft euch amendments to the existing labour laws as may be required in the vital interests of employers, and demand that the Government, 'supported by Parliament, take immediate eteps ■ to protect' employers' interests in the manner indicated' by passing '©f- ( fective legislation' within 1 a reasonable time, ' and .to take such other steps as the Advisory Board of tho New Zealand Employers' Federation may consider advisable- to meet' the recent 'developments of the organisation against them, by completely organiein^ for the protection of commerce and industries in the interests of the community the full strength of tho employers of New Zealand.' " Mr. W. Prior, general secretary of the Employers' Association, and Mr. Scott, of the Arbitration Court, who are hero in. connection with the sitting of the Court, addressed a meeting of delegates of the farmers' bodies, who had been also invited. It waa made, clear thiit the Federation of Labour, • and not ' those bodies which respected, agreements, . would have to be' fought. It was considered 'that, as tho x Labour organisation had' four highiy : paid lecturers ; an^l .twenty organisers, the employers must fake » leaf out of their book, and actively organise and cbnsolidate.
