DEFENCE ACT.
CHEISTCHURCH, 31st March. For having refused to pay fines of 40s, and costs 10s, for having declined to take the oath under the Defence Act, five youths, Frank Ward, Harold Hayes, Charles William Vincent, Alfred Francis Scott, and Thomas Nuttall, were today sent to prison for three weeks.
