I : ARRIVAL^ AT AKAROA. EXPLORERS RETICENT. 'A brief message received to-day by Sir Joseph Ward stated that i .Captain Scott's Antarctic ship Terra j K<wa arrived at Akaroa this morni ing 1. The information was subse1 quently confirmed by a Press Association message, which gave the , time of the steamer's arrival at 6 a.m. The reason the Terra Nova did not go to Stewart Island, etates the message, was that on former occasions attempts were made to intercept news there by persons i?om,America, and other countries. JBfven the other day an offer of £50 j}?as made. to.a Government official ai Half-Moon Bay to send a mes-sage-to America. To delude these people Stewart Island was mentioned again as her port, and her real destination was kept a secret until this morning.'
