LODGE MEETING.

The weekly, meeting of the Star of Wellington Lodge, 1.0.G.T.. was held in tha St. Petor's Mission Hall, Tara-naki-street. One candidate was readnmtted. Bro. R. Rigarlsford, P.C.T., ' presided, over a very large gathering, the meating being an open night. An ex-,, cellent concert programme was arranged" by Bros. W. Weston and Wyse, and was contributed to .by Mr. Archer's Orchestra, Misses Hyder, 'Vv^ston, and Pemberton, Mifisrs. Domb, Drury. Donaldson, Newton, G. Petherick^Westerby, Jennings,' and Lambert. Sisl Clark and Bro. Weston wc-ro presented with the prizes won the week previous. The accompanist (Mr. Jennings) and those in charge of the programme were given a vote of thanks. Lying alongside the King's Wharf the Kainan Maru, fresh from the Antarctic, attracts a great deal of attention. She ! came 4 alongside to-day under her own eteam. Orders as to future movements are still being awaited from Tokio. It is understood by the Patea Press thab the South Taranaki Shipping Company, which has uo'xv been formed, will commence operations- on Monday next. Offices will be at Patea and Wellington. Mj. John. Sourhey, home director for Australasia of the China Inland Mission, arrived by the Marayoa this morning. II b expects to remain .in Wellington until 10_th April, and will bo staying: with Captain and Mrs. (Blackburne, at 56, Hawkerstreet. He will be taking a series t>C Bible readings in tho Vivian-street Baptist Church during: the first three or four evenings of this week. Tho meetings ure advertised in this issue. The Garrison Band notifies that it has a few vacancies for good players, including ba*3 drummer. Applicants bhould communicate with Lieut.. X..Hsrd.
