The value of 'the mineral output of New South Wales for 1911 was £9,758.000, an increase of £1.021,000 on the previous year. A large colliery has arranged to experiment with -Sir William Ramsay's scheme for the production of electricity at the uit-mouth. fSir William Ramsay, the eminent scientist, addressing the Smoke Abatement Society on Monday last, said it wan possible to sink a shaft in coal- * bearing strata, admit the oxygen reSuired to burn the coal, and draw off ie gas for producing electric power at the pit-head.
