MURDERED IN MOTHER'S ARMS
' The child "waa struck with the axe while it had its arms round its mother's neck," fiaid a medical man at an inquest on Mrs. Limpus and her two-year-old son, who war© murdered by the woman's husband at Stork-road, Forest-gate, near London. When arrested Limpus said : "Let me die ; I will go quietly. Oh, dear! I mußt be mad ! Is she dead ? I don't know what made me do it." On the way to the station he eaid : "I had no sleep for nights, and had a nerVoue breakdown. My poor little boy had been ill with bronchitis. I ought to havo committed suicide, an their lives were worth more than mint. It was a cold-blooded crime for me to do; I must go to the gallows." A bank-book found on. the man show* ed that he had £50 to his credit. , It was also elicited that on the day before the crime Limpus was seen examining his throat before a glass with a razor in his hand. • At his wife's request he put the weapon, away. A verdict of "Wiltul murder" was returned. A departmental report called for by ■the N*w youth Wales Minister for Work* (Mr. Arthur Griffith) shows that day labour on the Moi'e<* to Munguiidi railway construction works will result in a saving of £9500.
