COLLEGE GOVERNORS.
♦ The Wellington College Governors met to-day, Mr. A. De B. Brandon presiding.' Messrs. A. Warburton. Robert Lee, W. H. Field, W. H. P. Barber, and Miss Richmond were also present. The chairman reported that the bank balance stood at £571. The resignation of Miss Rigg, of the teaching staff, was accepted, and it was announced that Misses Pickering, Hind, Jackson, and M'Lean had accepted appointments. Mr. Lee brought up a proposal for the appointment of a sub-committee to go into all testimonials when an appointment to the teaching staff was being made, but withdrew it after the majority of the members had agreed in the view that the headmaster should in all cases — as at present — make his recommendation on the merits of the applicants.
