THE TERRITORIALS. POSTING FOR 1912. Further details regarding the posting I of persons liable fdr service in the Ter- | ritorial Force and Senior Cadets are contained in a memorandum issued by the Adjutant-General (Colonel Robin), j He states that a notice will be gazetted this month calling oil — (a) All persons who -will attain the ! ages of fourteen to twenty -two years' on j or before 31st May next wtoo have not already registered to do so. This does i not mean, that anybody who was over the age of twenty-one last year, when the scheme was put "into operation, *is affected j the ago of twenty -two oiily refers to those persons who neglected to register last year. A supply of this notice will be sent to each group officer in New Zealand in poster form to be displayed." on public buildings and conspicuous places. (b) All boys attending any primary school who will attain, or have attained, fourteen years of age on the 31st May, 1912,' or if they remain at such primary school beyond the age of fourteen on 31sfc May of the year in Avhich they, will have or have left such primary school. Registration of boys attending primary Bphools may be made by school authorities on behalf of the boys. (c) All male persons who have not attained twenty-two yoars of age temporarily absent from the Dominion, not previously registered, must do so within two months of their return. (d) All male immigrants who are between the ages of fourteen and twentytwo must register within six months after arriving in the Dominion. (c) All male persons who, owing to change of residence, have ceased to reside in an exempted area must register within thirty days of such change of residence to an area not so exempted. .If registration has already been made, the person must produce his record- book s w the nearest area office. Registration < of those liable for last year who have not yet registered will continue. Efforts. are to be made in all areas to locate and register those who may nofc yet have registered. As far, ac possible, continues the ad-jutant-general recruits should ' be posted to the branch of the service and the drill centre they desire ,to be trained in. Tradesmen and artificers, such as mechanics, shoeing-smiths, blacksmiths, wheelwrights, bakera, butchers, shoemakers, etc., should be posted to ensure a proportion being -trained in units requiring tradesmen, artificers, and mechanics. Care should be taken as far as possible not to post to the same unit more persons out of the flame business concern than the' employer can spare at the one time. The balance of the*' l9l2 qnota not required for the Territorial Force to be posted to existing rifle clubs. This will not be retrospective, and will only apply to those liable for service in the Territorial Force on Ist June, 1912, or the nucleus of clubs formed under othor conditions prescribed. , These conditions . are dealt with at length in another article in this issue. In caces 'of objection to take the oath an affirmation may be accepted.
