WELLINGTON GOLF CLUB.
The annual report of the Wellington Golf Club states that there is a credit balance of £50 L7s 2d. Unusual expenditure such as sand and cinders for greens and bunkers, law costs, painting and papering club house, has all been charged to revenue account. During the year, the Ladies' (N.Z.) Championship was played on the club's links and w a s an unqualified succoek. The committee desire to place on record their appreciatidn of the services rendered by the staff in connection with the championship. The Ladies' Championship of New Zealand was won by the club's repre«en-' .Miss Lucy .Brandon^ whilst Mr. Arthur Duncan ( succeeded in winning" both Amateur and Open Championships of New Zealand "'played at Wanganui. The Men's (N.Z.) Championship its. ( ]U> be played for on the" club's links Jater in, the yeai 1 . The clufr is indebted to His Excellency the Governor for two handsome cups, which are to be competed; for each year through the medium of the "Islington" mixed foursomes. The house steward's engagement has been renewed for a further period of one year. Dur-, ing the year Mr. Biss resigned the position of secretary and treasurer, and Mr. MacShane' was appointed to tho vacancy. Mr. Pearson retired from the committee, and Mr. W. E. Fussell was appointed in his stead. Residential quarters have now been provided at the club house andthe revenue derived therefrom has been quite satisfactory. The membership of the club continues satisfactory, and at 29th February, 1912, stood as follows : — Playing membersMen, 132; ladies, 76; total 208. Nonplaying members— Men, 60; ladies, 69; total, 129. Country members, 37 ; supernumerary, 8; visiting,. 16'; junior, 8; grand total, 406. Amongst the motions of which notice has been given are the following: — (1) "That subscription be £5 65." (2) "That non-playing members of either box be admitted on payment of an entrance fee of £1 Is and an annual subscription of £1 IS payable in advance on the Ist day of March in each year) they shall not be entitled to play on the links, but may play on such lawns as are set apart by the committee for the purpose." (3) "That persons desiring' to join the club for the purpose of playing lawn tennis shall pay an entrance fee of £2 2s, and an annual subscription of £2 2s, payable on the Ist day of March in each year." i (4) "That lawn fees for tennis visitors 6hall be 2s 6d a day or 5s a week." (5) "That the following words be added to Rule 25 : — If any person who hae been a member of. the club aud has voluntarily retired shall wish to rejoin the club, the committee shallhave power to lein-sfta-te such" member, upon payment" of the annual subscription only, without entrance fee."
