Ihe Cretan Revolutionary Committee has chosen sixty-nino deputies to proceed to the Greek Chamber, but the Government has resolved not to admit them without the Powers' consent. lit was recently announced that the Cretan Assembly had approved of the sending of deputies to the Parliament at Athens, and that it had abolished the existing Government Offices. The Cretans deeire union with Greece. Over two years ago the position between Turkey and Greece with regard to Crete reached such a serious point that the protecting Powers decided, if necessary, to intervene to prevent a breach of the peace. At that tune Turkey had decided to take extreme measures it Greece accepted the deputies which Crete—ignoring the suzerain position of Turkey—had elected to the Greek Parliament. The than leaders of the two Greek political parties agreed that no Cretans Bhould be admitted as members of tho Assembly, and the matter dropped for the time being.]
