Wellington received only nine" points of rain — but a small 6hare of what has fallen over the country in the pa6fc twenty - four ' Hours — this morning the vicinity . of Cook Strait was less cloudy than any other part of the Dominion. Some heavy rain fell in portions of the South Island, and the Westland rivers, in consequence, show moderate freßhes to-day. The weather is likely to be changeable and showery all over the Dominion, and southerly winds with a rising barometer are anticipated in the near future. The weekly session of the Pioneer Lodge 1.0. G.T. was held in the Rechabite Chambers, Manners-street. Bro. Kelly. P.C.T., presided in the absence of , Bro. Atkinson, C.T. There was a good attendance of members. A lectureLte was given by Bro. Thompson on "Wealth and Wages," touching incidentally on tii-ikes. The lecture was listened to 'very attenthely, and was fr/1-lowed-by a ehoit but lively discussion.
