Thomas, a member of the South Wales Conciliation Board, suggested that in future agreements each party should be pledged to pay £100,000 in the event of it being broken. Tho miners' leaders declare that the suggestion is impracticable. INSURANCE AGAINST STRffiES. MOVEMENT BY' CORN TRADE ASSOCIATION. (Received February 12, 8.6 a.m.) LONDON, 11th February. The Corn Trade Association has given notice that insurance policies tenderable under contracts from Ist March must cover risks of strikes, riots-, and civil j commotions, which the Lloyd's standard ' policy excludes. It ifi understood that the underwriters will accept these risks at a minimum premium of Is per cent. DOCKERS ON STRIKE. SETTLEMENT ARRIVED AT IN GLASGOW. LONDON 7 11th February. Further rioting occurred in Glasgow amongst the dockers on strike, and meanwhile sub-committees of representatives of both sides to the dispute, under the presidency of Sir George R. Askwith, chairman of the Industrial Council of the Board of Trade, arranged a basis for a settlement. , A mass meeting of the dockers accepted the settlement, which differs but little from that previously rejected. The right to employ non-unionists is unimpaired. MANCHESTER MEN OUT. LONDo"NTIOth February. A strike of dockers has occurred itt Manchester, over the employment of non-unionists. At a mass meeting a resolution was adopted threatening a general strike of transport workers in sympathy with the men already out. SYDNEY NEWSPAPER HELP UP. SYDNEY*, 11th February. The Sunday Times machinists struck at midnight for better wages and conditions. Only a few copies of the paper were published.
