FLOWER SHOW.
m KARORI AND MAKABA. This afternoon the annual Karori and Makara Flower Show was opened at the Parochial Hall by the Mayor of Karori, Mr. C. Cathie, in the presence of a fair attendance. The entries, both in amateur and professional classes, were quite up to the usual standard and number. The show is described as exceeding that of last year in point of excellence. The exhibits of pot plants were really -exceptional, and the collections of cut flowers were very good. One of the many features of the show was the magnificent collection of well-known hybrid gladioli, exhibited by Mr. W. M. Jackson, of Vogeltown. Eight tables were beautifully decorated, and will be judged by popular vote to-morrow night. The flowers and plants sent for sale will be disposed of to-morrow evening by public auction. The Rev. A. L. Hansell is president of the society, an,d Mr. S. W. Adams secretary. Mrs. Cathie, Miss Cooper, and Mr. Jay are the judges, who are performing their difficult tasks this afternoon.
